Death is dead

To many, death is when the earthly body ceases to live.  But really death is an absence of the Spirit, so that even when a body lives it is dead without the Spirit.  The redeemed of God have been made one Spirit with the Lord (1 Cor 6:17), we have been completely freed from death.  Death is so nonexistent to the believer that Jesus refers to it in a contradiction.  Jesus says in John 11:25, "he who believes in me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die."  In Christ, death is exposed as a fraud.
